November 1st: MUSIC

Today I feel especially grateful for MUSIC.

I woke up this morning around 5:30 am and realized that the weekend was gone and in a few short hours I would need to return to reality and be prepared to teach my students the steps of long division and the difference between chemical and physical changes. Being the work-a-holic that I am, I was in the car and driving to work by 6:15am! That meant I would arrive at work around 6:45am and still have 1 hour and 15 min until my morning class would begin. I was anxious to get to work knowing that I had left a large TO DO list on my desk the previous Friday. My mind was racing through all the millions of things that I needed and wanted to accomplish. I was so distracted that it wasn't until about 10 min. into my drive that I realized what CD was playing in my car.

The sky was still dark and the roads fairly empty, but these lyrics were blasting through my speakers:

I know that my Redeemer lives!
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead;
He lives, my ever living head!

He lives triumphant from the grave;
He lives eternally to save;
He lives exalted, throned above;
He lives to rule his Church in love.

He lives to grant me rich supply;
He lives to guide me with his eye;
He lives to comfort me when faint;
He lives to hear my soul’s complaint
.

He lives to silence all my fears;
He lives to wipe away my tears;
He lives to calm my troubled heart;

He lives all blessings to impart.

He lives to bless me with his love;
He lives to plead for me above;
He lives my hungry soul to feed;
He lives to help in time of need.

He lives, my kind, wise, heavenly friend;
He lives and loves me to the end;
He lives, and while he lives, I’ll sing;
He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King!

He lives and grants me daily breath;
He lives, and I shall conquer death;
He lives my mansion to prepare;
He lives to bring me safely there.

He lives, all glory to his name!
He lives, my savior, still the same;
What joy this blest assurance gives:
I know that my Redeemer lives!

Music has ALWAYS been able to calm my soul when things feel hectic and overwhelming. I was especially grateful for this song this morning and its message that MY SAVIOR lives! "He lives to help in time of need. He lives and LOVES ME to the end" There is a peace in knowing and believing this message! A peace that makes everything feel okay. A peace that helps me realize that my best is good enough. I can honestly say that this song which I have known for many years, touched me today in a way that it never has before! It changed my entire attitude and opened my eyes to see and feel my Savior's love for me through out my ENTIRE day.
Today was wonderful! Busy? Yes! Productive? Incredibly! I am still in SHOCK with how much I accomplished and the joy that I felt in doing it.
I am grateful for music and the immediate spirit and peace it can bring to our lives!
